Urinalysis - LeukocytesIntroductionLeukocyturia is an increased excretion of leukocytes by urine and a symptom of inflammation of various etiologies, e.g. pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis, phenacetine nephritis, bacterial infection of the lower genitourinary tract, etc. The leukocytes excreted by urine mostly are neutrophilic granulocytes. Small amounts of eosinophils can be found in urinary tract allergies, and lymphocytes can be found in chronic inflammation. |
